Organised by
Hong Kong Museum of History

The Hong Kong Museum of History has as its mission the collection, preservation, study and exhibition of cultural objects that are closely related to the history of Hong Kong and South China. Through acquisitions and donations, the museum has built up a comprehensive collection that now numbers over 110,000 historical objects that represents a treasure trove of invaluable information for research into local history.

2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Museum of History. To commemorate the occasion, we are staging this exhibition to introduce the stories behind the forty specially selected exhibits from our collection. Also explaining the established practices for sourcing and collecting historical objects, the exhibition aims to enhance the public's understanding of the work of a museum and to encourage them to make donations in support of our project to revamp The Hong Kong Story exhibition, which we will launch in the very near future.
