The 11th Inter-school Competition of Project Learning on Hong Kong's History and Culture

* Submission deadline now extended

Theme
War and Peace – Exploring Stories of Hong Kong before 1949

People all over the world want peace and stability. Hong Kong is no different, and its prosperity and affluence today are the fruit of the hard work of previous generations of its residents. But a look back at Hong Kong's history before 1949 shows several periods when the city – and its people – experienced war directly or indirectly, for instance, invasion of China by foreign powers at the turn of the last century, the social turmoil before and after the 1911 Revolution, the long war of resistance against Japan during World War II, the Chinese Civil War and the founding of the People's Republic of China. Shedding light on Hong Kong's history from different perspectives and to different effect, stories from these different periods give us another valuable opportunity to learn about the history of the city we call home.
