The Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery, situated behind the Victoria Harbour, is a popular spot for photography, but its historical significance in the history of local sea rescue operations remained obscured to many people. In this tour, the assistant curator of the Exhibition Gallery and Mr Leung Chung Yu, a retired firefighter who had fought side-by-side with the fireboat, will take you on a journey to discover the secret attractions of the exhibition and the fireboat.  The Latest Firefight Hero at Sea: A Visit to the Fireboat 12 at Sai Kung Fireboat Base This activity will be led by the staff from the Fire Services Department (FSD), who will guide participants in a visit to Fireboat 12, docked at the Sai Kung Fireboat Base. Participants will learn about fire-fighting work and the equipment and tools used. Fireboat 12 is the newest addition to the FSD, purchased in 2024, and primarily provides rescue services for the eastern waters of Hong Kong. Date: 14 December 2025 (Sun) Time: 1 pm – 4 pm Assembly / Dimissal Point: Roundabout of the Hong Kong Science Museum (2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East) Language: Cantonese Quota: 25 Target Audience: Members of the public (Participant must be aged 6 or above) Fee: Free of charge

| Introduction |

The fireboat Alexander Grantham went into service in 1953. Before being decommissioned in 2002, it served as the flagship of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department's fireboat team, responding to fire alarms and conducting rescue operations both in Hong Kong's waters and along the shoreline. The Alexander Grantham was built by Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Co. Ltd. and, as well as an enduring witness to the history of Hong Kong's sea rescue services, it is also a testament to the achievements of Hong Kong shipbuilding in the 1950s. Given the profound historical significance of the Alexander Grantham, the Hong Kong Museum of History acquired the fireboat for its collections, refitting it into the purpose-built Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery and opening it to the public in 2007. At a gallery area of 1,200 square metres, a number of unique firefighting artefacts has been showcased, offering a wealth of information displayed in multimedia formats to enhance the visitors' understanding of marine rescue work in Hong Kong. |

Museum Opening 1.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above
•
If the signal is in force before opening hours, the Museum will remain closed.
•
If the signal is issued during opening hours, the Museum will be closed.
•
If the signal is cancelled or lowered to Signal No.3 or below 3 hours or more before the normal closing time and conditions allow, the Museum will resume service within 2 hours. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
•
If the signal is in force before opening hours, the Museum will remain closed.
•
If the signal is cancelled 3 hours or more before the normal closing time and conditions allow, the Museum will resume service within 2 hours. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed for the rest of the day.
•
If the signal is issued during opening hours, the Museum will remain open.
3.
“Extreme Conditions”
•
If “Extreme Conditions” is in force before opening hours, the Museum will remain closed.
•
If "Extreme Conditions" is cancelled 3 hours or more before the normal closing time and conditions allow, the Museum will resume service within 2 hours. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed for the rest of the day.
•
If the Museum is already open, the opening hours may be subject to adjustment.
Museum Activities
Indoor Programmes for parents and children, children, kindergartens#, primary schools#, special schools#, children centres, elderly centres, and other similar organisations (including pre-booked group guided tours): i.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above (including Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement) / "Extreme Conditions"

Ongoing programmes will be suspended.
•
If the above-mentioned weather condition(s) is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 or Red / Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
•
Ongoing programmes will continue.
•
If the signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.
Other Indoor Programmes (including pre-booked group guided tours): i.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above (including Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement) / "Extreme Conditions"
•
Ongoing programmes will be suspended.
•
If the above-mentioned weather condition(s) is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

Black Rainstorm Warning
•
Ongoing programmes will continue.
•
If the warning signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled. iii.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 / Red Rainstorm Warning
•
All programmes will proceed as scheduled.
Outdoor Programmes Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above / Red/Black Rainstorm Warning / "Extreme Conditions" •
Ongoing programmes may be suspended subject to actual weather conditions.
•
If the signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.
•
Due to variations in actual circumstances for each programme, please refer to the individual event details for special arrangements in inclement weather.
Arrangements for Fee-Charging Programmes
1.
Rescheduled or refund arrangements will be made for cancelled programmes.
2.
Unless the Museum is closed due to inclement weather, the scheduled group visits of Free Admission will not be cancelled.
3.
