30/4/2003 – 29/7/2003
Special Exhibition Gallery,
Hong Kong Museum of History
This exhibition, jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Consulate General of France in Hong Kong, and jointly organized by the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Musee Notional des Chateaux de Malamaison & Bois-Preau in France (MNCMB), is the first exhibition on Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) ever staged in Hong Kong.
Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France from 1804 to 1815, is one of the most significant figures in French and world history. His life and accomplishments will be featured in this exhibition through the display of 176 national treasures from the MNCMB, including oil paintings, costumes, jewellery, furniture and historical documents. This exhibition will also reflect the splendours of French culture during the 18th and 19th centuries.
This exhibition is a major programme of Le French May.
