The year 2008 marked the 80th anniversary of broadcasting in Hong Kong. In the past 80 years, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) has gradually evolved from a modest radio station to a household brand. As the sole public service broadcaster of the city, it maintains the principles of serving the general public while catering to the needs of the minority interests, providing a platform for expression of views by people from all walks of life, caring for the underprivileged, and chronicling the true and diversified facets of the community. Over the years, RTHK has accumulated a rich repertoire of radio and television programmes, as well as new media productions, which have seen their popularity soaring in recent years. Its extensive archives of audio and visual materials and signature productions are important records of the developments in Hong Kong over the decades since its inauguration.

This exhibition featured valuable documents, pictures, video clips and artefacts, with a view to tracing the development of RTHK.
