2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance against Japan. From the outset of the Japanese invasion, triggered by the Mukden Incident of 18 September 1931, to the launch of China's full-scale resistance against Japan after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident of 7 July 1937, the people of Hong Kong backed their compatriots in China with both human and material resources, and their unwavering support bears testimony to how the people of mainland China and Hong Kong, intricately connected, have stood by one another through thick and thin.

The display of valuable historical photographs in this exhibition sheds light on the progress of China's War of Resistance against Japan, the support provided by the people of Hong Kong in the fight against the Japanese aggression and the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. We hope that the exhibition will deepen the public's understanding of this important chapter in history, so that we can all appreciate and value the courage and nobility of the many unsung heroes who battled undaunted to protect our motherland and our people.
