The 1st Inter-school Competition of Project Learning on Hong Kong's History and Culture

Discovering History: A Life-wide Experience!
Jointly organized by
Hong Kong Museum of History and The Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture

Aim
-
To foster students' awareness of and interest in Hong Kong's historical development and unique cultural heritage through a field project.
-
To enhance students' knowledge and skills in conducting historical research and to achieve the goal of "Learning to Learn".
-
To allow students to experience the joy of retracing history through written or multi-media project.

Theme
The Urban Spaces of Hong Kong: Historical Inscriptions

Living in a city like Hong Kong provides us with many collective memories of some remarkable people, places and things. Many historical landmarks still exists in urban spaces, including remnants of those already vanished and those that are part of the vanishing heritage. These include streets, markets, attractions, shops or a group of buildings in certain areas. The urban landscape allows us to witness the change and continuity of the history as well as our cultural heritage.

Divisions
Written Report Category

Junior Division: F.1-F.3 Students
Senior Division: F.4-F.7 Students

Multi-media Production Category
Junior Division: F.1-F.3 Students
Senior Division: F.4-F.7 Students

Open to individual students or a group of fewer than five.

Prizes
1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes will be awarded for each category. The winning schools will be awarded a trophy and book coupons. Each winning student will be presented a Certificate of Merit, and the teacher-in-charge, a Certificate of Thanks. Certificate of Participation will be given to each entrant to acknowledge their effort.

Completed entry form and project study outline should be sent to The Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture, Unit L4-04, Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre, 30 Pak Tin Street, Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon. Please mark "Inter-school Competition of Project Learning on Hong Kong's History and Culture" on the envelope.
