Collections & Services

In 2024, the Museum received a generous donation of more than 24,000 invaluable Chinese photography collection from the Moonchu Foundation. Most of the donated photos were taken in the late Qing and the Republican period, and the subject matters cover major historical events, urban landscapes and architecture, people's livelihood, as well as different photographic materials and formats reflecting the development of early photography. The photographs are an extremely rare, comprehensive collection of China-related images in the world, and important materials for research on modern China.
